How much does the plane weigh, and what engine are you using?

Open B Combat

If anyone is interested in the Wedgie contact me. Its my own design and with a .25 it has unlimited vertical and is flat out fun. Check my photo albums under "My Planes" to see the development and then go to the Sunparlor web site to see the many different ones there. The plans are free domain meaning you can copy them give them away anything but sell them. All I ask is that you remburse me for the mailing costs. Also there is an addendem page with all the improvements and changes made over the last few years with the credit given to the person who came up with the idea. If you make what you feel is an improvement send it to me with a scetch and details and it gets added to the list.

Development of the Wedgie 3rd,4th, 5th and 6th pictures album "My Planes"

Sluggish??? I find they can be a handful if flown wildly.....thank goodness they are durable, I have flown into the ground more times than I care to admit...

We have a limit of .15 sized engines (supposed to be bushing like the LA and TT but a few Norvel's and CVA's have snuck in)

Plane is similar design to the derringer. I'll try to get some weighing done but I think, after reading that most fly with a .25, I have my answer.

Speed isn't as important in combat as much as pull. I guess that's where the .15 just isn't enough.

Many thanks

Nuker

Nuker, you fixed the combat "5-6 time this season". It was more like a 5-6 times a month wasn't it?

.15 are for the open A combat. .25 for open B and .46 for open C. Most people I know fly open B, with a few flying open C. How can I post a pic here?

Hello Planecrazy: I see from your post that you are in Orangeville. I am just getting going with this combat flying and have met a great bunch of folks down in Strathroy. I plan on doing much more flying next year. I have been trying to locate some people closer to home who might like to fly some combat from time to time. Orangeville is not too far to go. Can you advise information on joining the club, what sort of combat you fly etc. I have only made a start with the 1/12 scale warbirds this year, but, if I get busy over the winter will have a genuine fleet of Scale and Open class planes for next year.
Beat Regards

Hi Claude,

If you want to find out more about this and download some free plans got the Radio Control Combat Association's site at http://www.rccombat.com/rcca.asp

Lots of info and links to a Canadian website as well.

I too have been bitten by the bug and picked up a 1/2 scale Hawker Hurricane for US$20. Foam wing and built up fuselage. Figure I'll clone the wood parts in 3/32" door skins. Two guys in our club have built their own designed Fairey Fulmars this way and they say a 4' x 8' sheet of doorskin will yield about 20 fuselages... not bad for $24!

Remeber... Check your SIX!
