Some of items cut for the horizontal stab were cut smaller than what was called for on the plan so be prepared to do some filling.

Pictures Continued:

If you are building this kit you will find that the firewall does not fit as it should on the right hand side so you will have to do some sanding.
( the right side as if you were sitting in the plane )

Michel
I decided to use mostly CA and Epoxy only on this build. The only places I used white glue was for joining the sheets.
I want to see how well it holds up. I made sure everything was tight so it should be ok.
I've seen some of the pro's using it and thier planes don't fall apart so it should be good. I am using the epoxy fillets in the places that I feel will recieve the most stress.

Re: Another Great Planes Piper J-3 Build

I'm in the midst of installing the Saito 82 and it looks like I am going to have to butcher the front end to accept the engine. It has to sit 5-1/8" from the Thrust washer to the firewall so I am either going to have to mount the engine on the end of the mount or add some blockes behind the mount to be able to get a better bite on the engine.

Can a guy mount the 4 stoke inverted? It might look cleaner that way but will it run properly?
Also this plane is going to be on floats.

Re: Another Great Planes Piper J-3 Build

Inverted is a great way to mount it. They run great. Heres a shot of my Goldberg Cub. Saves the cowl and looks a lot cleaner. I have a saito 65 and thats more than enough. Nice build.
