3GX Firmware Versions

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Hello all
I just picked up the Align 450 Pro 3GX which I still have to assemble. The fly barbless unit has a sticker stating the firmware is version 1.2.
I see on the Align website there is firmware version 3.0 that is available. Having no prior experience with any Align products, would it be wise to upgrade the firmware straight to version 3 prior to any flight attempts or should I use version 1.2 at least until I attempt to fly heli?
When upgrading the Align firmware, can one go from version 1.2 right directly to version 3 or do you have to download the individual versions between 1.2 & 3.0?
Thanks and regards
Mike

Re: 3GX Firmware Versions

Yes you should upgrade first. There have been enormous improvements and fixes. Make sure that you have the latest documentation on the 3GX as well.

Re: 3GX Firmware Versions

Yes, upgrade for sure! I haven't had a chance to upgrade any of mine yet, but all my helis will be getting the firmware upgrade once I have time.

So far all the reviews I've read for V3 say it's a significant improvement.

Before flying, on the bench make sure you don't get any brownouts, if you do, upgrade to an external BEC. Apparently V3 runs faster and draws a bit more peak power from the BEC.
