The other morning I was in the basement setting up a new plane, while my wife was upstairs making coffee. I had the electrics set up and connected when all of the sudden the engine fired up to full throttle!!!!!!

fortunately I had the model in a hold, but it could have been bad.

I figured out that the oscillations from the coffee maker(a proctor silex without a model #) engaged the receiver on the throttle channel.

I was using a futaba 4yf on channel .730.

Please be careful~!

You're lucky that the plane was not pointed in your direction,
it could have been worst...even a parkflyer size plane motor
will cut flesh easy.

Do you have the Transmitter turned on first before the receiver?

If you did not turn on the Transmitter first, then the receiver is welcome
to all forms of glitches and stray RF. It does not matter if it's a coffemaker,
or drill or the washing machine, the receiver will react to these glitches.

Always turn the Transmitter first when powering up...then reverse the
procedure when powering down.

Or even dissconnect the motor wires and then you can proceed with setting up your flying surfaces without any problems.

I did have the transmitter on, and I have now installed a simple switch to the motor just in case....

Hello Highflyer:

So, a 120 volt electric coffee grinder operating one floor above you, interfered with your receiver even though your transmitter was turned on? During thirty years of R/C flying, including most recently, four years of electrics, this is a first. I suppose that anything is possible, but if I were you, I would take a close look at other potential sources for the uncommanded motor run. By the way, were you able to repeatedly duplicate the interference?

There is that chance you have a some weak filters"NOT COFFEE" in your rec or your transmitter for this to happen
