I gave up on the Gym-V. Just couldn't get her to fly in such a tight indoor space (small gym). I took the components and tried another design:

The Blazy Bee. It's a foam replica of the Clancy Lazy Bee

Specs:
- Power Up Sport 250 Motor (HeadsUpRC)
- Power Up 10A ESC (HeadsUpRC)
- 6x3 GWS prop
- SG50 5g servos
- 350mAh 2S lipo from Common Sense RC
- Spektrum AR6110 receiver
- 2.5" Dubro wheels
- Fuse made from 3mm EPP
- 30" polyhedral wing from FFF
- AUW 5.3oz (my lightest build to date)

The maiden wasn't too promising. Far to much up thrust and it ballooned like crazy under power. I've toned it down some but still it needs more down thrust and possibly less wing incidence. The short coupled fuse makes for very tight turns... within 5ft if you crank the throws up.

She'll be a neat little gym flyer. I can't wait for warmer weather to try her outdoors!

Here's a lazy bee i came up with a few weeks ago........ I found the balsa plans on rc groups ( i think) but since I am so computer literate, when they printed off, this was the size they were.
It is made with fan fold. WS is 26", turnigy18-11 2000kv motor, 6A ESC, gws 7x3.5 prop, 360mah battery and 2 5g servos. I went a little heavy with the glue gun and it weighs about 5 oz ready to fly!
I have the same problem with it 'ballooning'. But it is a fun little plane to fly. Next one I will mill out some foam and use CA to try to lighten it up and then it will be a real floater!

The lazy bee is a great design for just having fun (have had my "out door" original Bee for many years).

I have seen TC's fly many times, its pretty great. I would like to see the OP's fly... looks great!

I wish I had some video... but I don't. I normally fly alone and lack help to shoot video... don't own a helmet cam either. Suffice to say I can fly her in a 60x100' gym. She floats and turns very well!

I also took her outside today... about -5C, flurries, and 5-10 km/h winds. Lots of fun! A few loops, got her going at a nice clip too. Definitely a cam weather flyer though... the large UC wing gets tricky to fly in wind.

This is also my first plane with working steerable tail wheel... it's nice to be able to steer while taxiing indoors.

I will try to get more photos soon.

Oh in case anyone is wondering, the Blazy Bee plans can be found on RCG. Just do a google search.

I will comment on a few things though:

- The plans do not clearly show the motor thrust angles. If I was to build her again, I would draw a line parallel to the h- stab then measure about 3deg down thrust. Also add 2-3 deg right thrust.
- A motor with a firewall mount really helps with making the thrust angle adjustable.
- I used a 16g outrunner from HeadsUpRC, but any small outrunner with approx 5oz or more thrust should work. ie. HK 10g outrunner (model 18-11).
- I still cannot figure out how the LG is fabricated. I used a solid axle made from 0.040" music wire, but it bends quite easily.
