COOL!

Was talking with a fellow a few days ago, who used to live in Vancouver. He moved to NS before "White Juan". Couldn't believe that an inch or so of snow didn't stop everything dead in it's tracks .

Of course, WJ was a tad over an inch or so .

Suspect he is still not over not having to go to work when there is only a couple of inches of white stuff on the ground.

Sunny!

Ya can't compare West Coast snow to the real stuff you get in the rest of this country: it is very wet and (for snow) warm. Consequently, any traffic turns it into ice, ball bearings, grease or a combination of all these lubricants and more. Being raised on this stuff, I was MOST surprised to go to Edmonton and find that it isn't the weather, it is usually the drivers. When I got to that hellhole in mid-March, I was amazed to hear the radio cautioning drivers because there had already been 800 "accidents" by 8am! Wait, the prairie guys used to come out here and deride West Coast drivers, then I go there and find little difference!

I still think it is the cars mostly at fault: wide tires, no real lugs, 4wd, all spell disaster to me. Narrow tires with AGGRESSIVE tread, and 2wd works fine for me; I've left 4wd guys behind with old Volvos etc; 15-16" wheels with 5-6" section and REAL snowtires. A buddy has a Model T; he goes where he wants, when he wants, all winter long... :P

Ty,
Have to disagree with it being all the car's fault. IMO it is the general lack of common sense that today's drivers have (not all, but a good majority of). Notice how many people drive the same way in winter, as they do in summer. Driving routinely over the speed limit, passing everywhere, the tailgating, etc,.

Just notice how many people have ALL SEASON tires. (And I admit to being one of them, but do so because I have a 4x4, and that I carefully chose AS tires that have more aggressive tread.) Also take note that many all season tires have tread grooves about the size of a pencil lead.

You are correct about wide tires being not as good as narrow ones in snow, and needing aggressive tread for snow. The quieter the tire, the less traction you will have in adverse conditions.

And Wade should know about bad drivers.....being from the land of the worst drivers in Canada... IMO of course...hahahaha!!! If the weather man even mentions snow flurries it is sure to tie up traffic on the bridges for at least two days to follow... As for the size of the tires...they could all be driving bulldozers down here and they would still have the highest insurance rates in Canada...wonder why...hehe

Cheers

PS Hi Wade....HAHAHAHAAHA!!!!

Wow...

May I suggest that Parry Sound could become the Canoe Capital of Canada when all that stuff melts?

It's better here: snow doesn't melt, it evaporates, very little mud or runoff when it just... disappears...

Lots of people own cars, few are drivers!
