Wise words Gus.

I'm not the type that looks for confrontationional situations but, sometimes, if it's obviously inevitable, it's best to get it over with early....

Having been president of my club, I've had to deal with these issues. The coward's way is via registered letter from the executive of the club..., and can definitely cause hard feelings.
I prefer the private chat ... just be sure no one else is in earshot as you don't need egos involved. If this doesn't resolve it, then it's a matter for the executive to deliver a warning ... that must be followed through on.

Ok guys,
I'm big enough to appologize to those that I've offended (yes this means you P.Prop)...but there are many posts here that make my point for me...there are many of you out there that take this hobby far to seriously...I'm done posting on this topic (a loud cheer comes from P.Prop )

Make sure the hobby is still around

coping with it

The deal is folks that regardless of the a person's age, whether arrogance, ignorance, or what ever, it is our responsibility to act responsibly and we must therefore take our sport/hobby very seriously.

We are not really any different than a sportsman shooting clay pigeons with his custom shotgun.

used correctly and within the guidelines established, a totally safe sport, but if not - then disaster can and will befall us. - whether a small electric or 45lb, 108" Beaver, we must all act within the realm of what is considered reasonable.

We have a member who flys such beasts with older gear and standard servos, modified chainsaw engines and building practices suitable for normal models. A founding member of the club, well respected for vast experiences. but failing to accept some limitations that both age and technology have imposed.

can you just turf the guy because he hasn't advanced? Would you drive a model T on the 401?

hence the original post

there's been very good discussion as well as the normal wandering off in this thread, but I have gained some insight and I hope others have as well -both younger and "matured" readers (I probably fit the latter - eh?)

So we won't suspend or boot the offender out, but neither will we let him continue.

You have the right, but you would be a hood ornament on an 18 wheeler before you made the next exit!
Seems to me there are minimum speeds on any of the 400 series highways in Ontario and a model T probably couldnt reach them.......

Craig, this whole subject would have gone by without much comment, except for some advise on how to deal with the individual. But you didn't just put the finger on an individual, however much you wish you had by this time. When you said "how are we going to deal with these GUYS?" you implicated every older pilot as a problem.

You alone are guiltyof sticking your foot in everyone elses mouth & causing this divisive ruckus -- I think that an applology to everyone is in order, then somehow close this mess forever.
