Hi~ guys~

Now i have a TREX 500 helicopter and functioning well, but i have a question, How can i improve my batteries or helicopter so that i can keep my copter long enough in the air up to 30min. i want to use battery to power my copter.

The reason that i want to keep my helicopter long enough in the air is, i had a camera, i want to do aerial photograph, so....

Any suggestion??? thanks

there is no way to keep any electric heli in the air for 30 minutes continuous. The most I could see is 10-12 minutes and you'd have to have such a heavy battery that you'd have little maneuverability.

the only helis I can think of that can even come close is a gasser.

Agreed.

Wrong platform/size heli. Ideally you need to go gas, or large scale electric (get out the cheque book). Either way, 30 mins is unrealistic. You'll likely end up losing concentration before running out of gas...

+1 ... if more than 8 min flight time is a must, you will need to get a Nitro heli, and probably a 90 size if you are doing AP.

But if you plan your shots ahead of time, 5-6 minutes is plenty. FYI, you won`t be able to lift a very big camera with the 500.

Re: How can i keep my 500 long enough in the air up to 30min???

I could see you squeezing 12-14min with the right packs. But probably not more than that. I did it with my Trex600 when I was learning. Get yourself a decent data logger...I use the Eagle tree.. http://www.eagletreesystems.com/ then keep experimenting until you find the best balance between throttle/head speed, adequate maneuverability and time. The eagle tree will help you understand what your adjustments are doing to your power consumption. You will find a balance.
Larger packs will help but watch the weight..as it gets heavier it will effect your power consumption. Good Luck.
