HI

I have a 40 size ST and I had the same issues at first. I would suggest checking all of the screws on the carb for tightness and even use some low strength loctite on them. My barrel stop screw was loose and this caused the engine to run erratic and transition poorly. After fixing this I have another gallon of fuel through it and it runs perfect. I should also add that this is the only engine that I have ever been able to start by hand with no starter! They are cheap but a really great engine! Cheers,

Tom
