The NGK cm6 plugs were the first to go in. Plug color at this point is good.I had a friend come by that has considerable experience with big gassers and he confirmed that something funky was going on with the carb. Fuel is definitely not finding its way easily into the carb ( no leakage though ). Fuel tank and lines are patent and clear. It siphons on its own so we can rule out any tank restrictions. All gaskets and membranes appear to be in new condition, no tears and properly assembled. The needles appear fine and the reeds and block are flat and intact. So, I called the renowned Valley View R/C in Washington state and talked with Tom who is well known for his vast knowledge and excellent service on the DLE line. I have booked Thursday to visit him and troubleshoot the engine at his facility. Will let everyone know what I discover.

A couple of notes: DLE carbs work - I am in investigative mode at the moment and don't yet want to swap it out with a Walbro....although that remains an option...lol

Re: DLE 170 being difficult

I had the same engine with the exact same problems....... I rebuilt the carb and all was good after that.

Re: DLE 170 being difficult

One of the things I found with walbro carbs is they don't like restrictions in the feed line. Such as filters, small fuel lines etc. Take all your fuel filters out, make sure you are using large fuel line and the vent is clear. I don't use fuel filters on any of my large engines (ZDZ 160, DA100, DLA56) I filter the gas as I fill the tank.

Re: DLE 170 being difficult

Good point Mike. I don't use in line, between the tank and carb, fuel filters at all. Filter your gas at the fuel can. Large fuel line is also a must.
