This radio is in excellent condition, everything works properly, no broken switches.

Anyone who has owned one of these radios knows how good of a radio it is, not only from the solidly built construction, but also from the powerful programming that this radio is capable of performing. In it's day, this was one of the premier radios. With very few exceptions, it you can think of something that you would like to program, this radio will probably do it.
Spektrum and Futaba Fasst modules are available, which makes this radio fully compatible with the latest 2.4 Mhz receivers.

The included NiCad battery holds a charge well, and will easily provide a full day of flying. Lipo batteries are available as well, which provide very long run times.

You can choose either channel 45 or 39 for the included FM Module.

Re: FS - Futaba 8UAP

Hello Paul,
I have looked at the advert you posted in January for the Futaba 8UAP a couple times and am interested in it. I presently have one 7UA and 2 7UA Supers which I have had for many years and like quite a bit, thought I would like an 8UA at some point. Not terribly concerned that they are considered vintage now, I'm kinda vintage too !! I also have been away from flying for several years while pursuing other motorsport adventures, but the time has come to retire from all that, so I plan to get back to the flying field this year. Also have not been on RCC for a looong time, had to re-register.
So...a couple questions. Have you used the radio yourself and found it to be reliable ? Do you have the manual for it ? Or possibly Don Edberg's manual?Does it have multiple model memory like the 7 Supers ?

Re: FS - Futaba 8UAP

Hello Robin,

This one is one of the radios that I use at every flying session. I have had it for a few years, and it has proven to be reliable. My other radio is an 8UAP Super, and I recently picked up a 9CAP. I am moving everything over to the 9CAP, from the 8UAP, which is why it is for sale. The manual for it is available to download from Futaba's website, but you are wise to look for the Don Edberg manual. I have one, but use it for my 8UAP Super, as well as taking the concepts and applying them to the 9CAP. So far, I have never had any issues with 72Mhz FM, so I have no desire to change to 2.4Ghz.

The radio does have multiple models, I think that there are 8 or 9 available in the radio, but if you find an expansion card, you can have up to 41 models programmed to it. The futaba memory card is called a CAMPAC, but there are aftermarket cards that have more storage space available. The expansion cards are available on ebay for a pretty decent price, and probably also on amazon.

Re: FS - Futaba 8UAP

I would echo Paul's comments - Great radio - I have several and use one for 72mhz and one with a Spectrum 2.4 module . Nice solid feel in your hands. Even by todays standards , more features and capabilities than the average sport flyer will ever use.
