I am assuming this is not going to be your first airplane? If it is, a twist is not the airplane to learn to fly on, if it's not, then have fun with your new purchase!

A GMS .47, oh man you could not have made a bigger mistake. This is one you might regret.

Just kidding you man. I have only heard good things about this engine. I was following your other thread and could not resist the temptation to play with you a bit. BTW, your other thread is not the first time I have seen others recommend this engine to a new comer. Rest assured this is indeed a good engine.

You are going to find this plane to be a lot different than the electric you have been flying. My advice would be to seek the guidance of your local club for sure. Not only will the instructors provide tremendous help with your flying but also with the absolutely necessary safety precautions that must be followed if you want to do this hobby for a long time and still have all of your body parts. I just saw a veteran pilot yesterday that was lucky to still have his finger attached to his hand. These engines have the power to remove body parts and will if you fail to give them the respect they demand. My table saw has a 10" blade that spins in the neighborhood of 10,000rpm or more. Funny thing is the prop on your new plane is bigger and turning a bit faster....get my point?

Way to go Mark. You are going to have a blast. BUT PLEASE get someone at your airstrip that has a lot of flying time to help you for the first while. the experiance he will provide will be invaluable and make your transition to glow a positive experiance.

Noin--- You just about had me rise out of my chair with your first post . Like I had stated before, you don't know till you try one. I was skeptical also at first but have been finding the GMS engines just as good as any of the more popular brands at a bargain basement price. You are right, they are good engines.

Have a blast

Curt

I have the same plane with a GMS 40 on it . My advice for the beginning flights would be to set the dual rates up using their recommendation for for mild no 3d as your high rates and set your low rates up at about 60% of them The plane flies great but can be very touchie on hi rates
