Fly bar Conversion?

I have a couple of old fly bar heli's with aerodynamic paddles on them. Can I remove the paddles and install the weights? Is there a comparison between the size of the weights and the weight of the blades? My eyeball alignment may be a little off!!

Re: Fly bar Conversion?

Are you asking if you can remove the paddles and replace them just with weights? If so, the answer is NO.

If you want to tune them for slower, novice type of response, then add weights to the flybar along with the paddles. You can purchase Century flybar weights from Leisure-Tech and others like the Hobby Farm that fit on 3mm flybars or others for 4mm flybars.

Placing these weights closer to the paddles will give the most stabilization and slower cyclic response. Placing them closer to the rotor head will give less stabilization and more cyclic response.

You can also tune a flybar head by using various weights of flybar paddles and also by using various sizes and airfoil shaped paddles.

Re: Fly bar Conversion?

Yes that is what I was asking. I have the ability and machinery to make these weights. I would like to know how heavy for a .60 size and a .40 size heli.

Re: Fly bar Conversion?

Hello Kip in the old days some of the weights were like wheel collars and the same weight of roughly a 5/32 collar. I had a Hirobo and it had brass lengths inside the paddles and you could change the brass rods to different lengths for the same response as Phil is talking about. I hope this helps a bit, I still love and fly flybarred helis but I do prefer the newer flybarless more , but that is for quicker crisper response.

Re: Fly bar Conversion?

I just found 3 sets for 60 size nitros.

I weighed them and measured their length.

8.5 g 2.5 cm iron
11 g 1.5 cm iron
9 g 1.5 cm brass

All are fasten using 3 mm set screws.

Hope this helps. Ken

Re: Fly bar Conversion?

Hey Kip, any chance you'd like a way newer "minty" Raptor Titan SE? With a fairly new YS 50 in it? This would be upgradable to flybarless. This is only an offer to you Kip, pm me if your interested.
