I have the Z231 in my gasser. And I didn't get an RM sensor with my engine. Is that an aftermarket piece? And if I use the RM sensor do I need to remove the Rev Max?

Now that we have the user name figured out here goes,

RM sensor is a revmax sensor.

The RM sensor is basic, it picks up a magnetic flux every rotation. The magnet has polarity plus the RM sensor is polarity sensitive. So if the magnet polarity is reversed all you do is flip the RM sensor over.

The engine magneto contains a magnet you can sample flux from. Sure its used to develope spark but it has other uses if you so desire. The picture of the gasser engine I posted uses the OEM sensor that comes with the Revmax. The bracket in the same picture in made from the brackets included with every RM. You buy the RM and you install its sensor as in the picture.

The only thing you may have to move would be the RM box if the wires did not reach.

When you install the sensor use the sensor light on the RM to make sure it works and with one flash per revolution. Magnetism or flux easily passes through the aluminun crankcase for the Revmax sensor to pick up.

ou have to buy a revmax to get the sensor so if you have a revmax and lost the OEM sensor you can buy it separately. A sensor without a governor is useless.

Hello Stephen

That makes things much clearer. Thankyou for the explanation. I relocated the sensor and it seems to read through the crankcase quite well as the light comes on every revolution. Any thought's on what RPM the gas engines like to run at? I've got a new JR9303 and am just figuring out the governor function on the menu. It's cool cause you can change your engine settings while running, saves shutting it down every time.

Talk to ya later

10,000-11,000 for starters, shoot for 1500-1700 rotor speed to start with.

Generally I set the governor or limiter on the low side and adjust it in flight, this prevents any surprises
