Winter Project 23CC engine

Hi All,

I have a 23CC engine lying around and had an idea with winter coming up. Similar to a Zen engine but it's a Smartech brand and there's a few different mounts. Instead of a hovercraft I though about making a snow boat. Kinda like those Florida swamp boats but I'd use it for snow only. There's a few tihngs I wanted to ask.

1. I wanted to use a prop. Should I use a 2 or a 4 blade?
2. What prop size should I look at?
3. Will this set up be enought to push something 10- 15lbs on the snow?

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Winter Project 23CC engine

Hello Joe,

Well, I don't know too much about what your engine will push along the snow, but I do know that I built a similar project last winter.

Mine came out at just over 4 lbs, with a ringed .40 up front. With this setup, it goes as fast as you want at half-throttle, but you need to give it a shot of full throttle to get it moving (especially if it has sunk into the snow a bit).

As always with props, 2-blade gives more thrust, but 3-blade helps with clearance.

Here are a couple of pics of mine, it has been sitting since the snow melted:

I posted a build thread here if you're interested.

Re: Winter Project 23CC engine

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the info. My engine alone is about 5lbs and from what I've see with the US builds the hull will be 20" x 36" or longer. The main things to look out for first is the adpater and prop. The rest will be fabricated with aluminum pcs.
