Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

Hi All;

Need to update my Checkmate ------

Motor quite --- had a dead stick landing this past summer because of a fuel filter that come apart , just a press fit togeather not threaded --- very poor filter ) see picture . The motor box had a lot of damage , so I rebuilt it with 1/8th ply. I spent a lot of time to make sure I got everthing right . ( right and down thrust ) To nice of a plane to just get rid of .

It is now all repaired and ready to go again ( ran the motor today ) Come on summer ---- I'm ready

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

The most expence was the new Cowl that I had to get ---- AeroWorks had one in stock A good thing

I got off very lucky on this dead stick ---- Fuse, wings were all good , did not even take the gear off

Re: **New** 50cc Checkmate from Aero-Works

Ray,

I just opened the package on 2 new secraft fuel filters and I tossed both of them. They both came apart with just a little force. It definitely sucks that you had to rebuild your firewall as a result of a shabby filter design, just glad you didn't lose the entire airframe.

Dave

Hi Dave;

It was'nt hard to see why the motor quit !!!! Half of the filter on the tank out let , the other half on the carb. inlet side . Just vibration had made it come apart . Hope this post saved you and others from this problem .

If you run inline fuel filters ------ check them to see if they come apart

Ray
