What club is that Chris?
What are the rules? Is that why you're looking for the DR1 "specs"? Sounds interesting, if there's enough interest, I might give it a whirl ... now where are those DVII plans....

I got some 3-views for a spad 13 and I cut out the wings out of 4mm coro and the fuse in a profile then I am going to cover that with foam and sand it to shape. I got the idea from a person at my club. It should be done and ready for combat in a couple of weeks so if anybody elese have one I would like to see how they built there's.

Since this is a new class, the details of rules will be developed over the coming season as we study the characteristics of the planes and such over the course of many scrambles... but in the meantime most of us are building on the following guidelines: 1/8 scale with +10% deviation from scale allowed. Biplanes and triplanes use maximum .25 sized engine Monoplanes use maximum .15 sized engine (otherwise monoplnes would dominate) Plane must have working undercarriage (ROG - rest on ground) Max weight 4 pounds Rounds will be 7 minutes long rather than 5. That's it..... Guys are having a grand time designing and building the old birds, and it promises to be a fun season. Watch for WWI combat demos at funflys over the summer Dave Plank Almost forgot... minimum 1/2 inch airfoil thickness (not very scale, but this is to help keep the speed down) |
