The landing gear on this model is notoriously weak, like so many Seagull models. I reinforced it with wire, which helped for a while but the gear was still crippling on some landings.

I ordered replacement gear from Hobby Hobby. What is interesting is that I was sent something different from stock - stronger aluminum gear (1/8" vs. 3/32") that, despite being the correct scale, had the holes drilled with different spacing and was designed to stick out perpendicular to the fuse, not swept back like the original.

I was about to complain, but then decided to redrill the mounting holes and make them fit. I am so glad I did! This gear is way better than stock and still looks good. I got new wheels pants with it also to make a clean upgrade.

You are right, Dean. That DOES look good. If I didn't know any better, I would say that looks original

Thanks Max. I think what happened is that I was sent the gear for the Spacewalker II 40 ARF (product code SEA2056) instead of the Harmon Rocket gear (SEA3056). In any case, this looks to be a good solution to the flimsy gear problem.
