Re: What is your Favourite FBL system and why?
GT5 is an absolute nightmare to program and to tweak successfully, give it a go, you'll be pulling hairs out from all parts of your body.

I know from personally owing a Vbar FBL ( ROCK SOLID) that there is alot of effort put into testing and R&D on a continual improvement basis...and the web site is very decent for support ( documentation ) as well as the forums are good too. I find using the PC interface ( Pro Version ) very intuiative and staright forward....I would rather use that as a step by step ( Setup wizard ) than trying to figure out a manual that is poorly translated. I thinnk the continual feedback in this forum is great as it will hopefully illuminate any misconceptions about different FBL systems and give readers more info. Cheers

3GX vs AR7200bx (beast x)
I have a trex 500fbl (3gx) which I was flying late last fall, and converted a new 600 over to 3gx during the winter and have been flying it this spring. Niether fly well. Nodding and galloping are common. I also see a "nervous" tail tendency in the 500 where it doesn't seem to know what it is suppossed to do. I tried software upgrades and tweaks regularly with no success - reducing the gain too much on the 600 in an attempt to limit the galloping caused it to flip inverted on 3 occasions and to suddenly pitch 90 degrees up at high speed. I stopped flying it, which was a shame as it was a favorite with a flybar.
I built a Gaui x4 over the winter and installed a AR7200BX and absolutely find it a pleasure to fly - very smooth and stable, not a hint of any bad behavior, no nodding, no wagging, no nervous tail - locked in. I wasn't sure if it was electronics or mechanics making the difference so ordered up another AR7200bx for the 600. OMG - just like the X4 - first flight - rock solid, satin smooth, a joy again to fly. As near to perfect as I have seen or flown. What I find odd is that some sport flyers tell me that thier 3GX helis are amazing and when I see the things fly I am more often reminded of Spastic chickens then finely tuned machines. 3GX units are selling, if they can be unloaded at all, for 80 bucks on HF. Thats too much in my opinion Align makes some really nice mechanical systems. They have missed on the FBL system front. Even if the thing did work well who really wants the hassle of computers at the field and constant fiddling? Spectrum/Beast x - do yourself a favour about to order a third for the 500. My two cents.

Re: What is your Favourite FBL system and why?
I do not own a Vbar but have seen them fly(awesome),but I do fly an X5 with beastX and it is by far the best heli I have ever had the chance to fly.

Ordered the third AR7200bx today for the trex 500EFL, painful after spending $400 plus on 3GX but would rather have flying machines I like than shelf queen dust collectors.

"would rather have flying machines I like than shelf queen dust collectors" The 3G & 3Gx units I tried ~ ephasis on the tried part...LOL to set up were a absolute NO fun situation... the BeastX I sold on a Trex600FBL was a snap, and I think I am going to stick to Vbar...I figure why not stick to one that you "trust" to work well and has a "proven" history of rock solid performance. I would rather spend a bit more on a system that is going to be the heart of my flight managment and get to know it inside and out....jumping from one system to another for me anyways is too much hassel to have to remember how to program/adjust each different system... I guess if you like it "stick to it....if you "trust" that system to work for you ...then go for it... That said this is a great oppertunity for someone who has not yet experienced a FBL system, to at least hear what the folks who have them have to say...and hopefully make a decision that they will be happy with.... Cheers

Re: What is your Favourite FBL system and why?
The vbar is earning a great reputation. I also read good things about skookum. I agree - find something that works really well, learn how to make it work for you, and stick with it.

Re: What is your Favourite FBL system and why?
This is a little late, but had to both list the Rondo System sold by RC HeliCanads.com and also apology to Jeff of RCHeliCanda.
I had problems with the system, or at least thought I did. The tail was all over the place with it. I cursed a few times under my breath at HeliCanda. But yesterday took the Rondo equiped 450 out and lifted off, it was rock solid and the control was just great. I have an SK-720, this Rondo and a V-Bar that I have yet to put in my KDS 450. The problem it turns out was not with the rondo, but with my DX8 gimbles. With that fixed the Rondo is great, and there is not an easier system to set up. It comes with its own little screen so adjustments can be made anywhere. I must say that in just hovering, it is as solid as the SK-720 when you have auto level shut off on the 720. I must also say there is not a better person to deal with than Jeff. One more note, I will never use torque drive on a tail again, one little touch and go in grass just high enough for the tail rotor to clip a few stems and the gears are gone. Back to a belt drive for me. Jim
