Looking for a 600 size GOOD ESC

I have had nothing but Hobby King ESC and since trying a Hobbywing ESC and how it is so much smoother I now want to get something better for my 600. I plan on using two Thunder Power 5 cell 5000mha in series making it ten cells but I need a good ESC that won't break the bank, so any suggestions?

I think you just screwed yourself. Why do you need so many cells?
You would be better going high amps and 6 cells unless you are a 3D demon

By the way, the Hobbywing Platinum 80A is a beautiful running esc.
the only catch is that they are hard to program without the program box
but you can get the box from Hobbyking

Re: Looking for a 600 size GOOD ESC

I wouldn't use a 5000ma for a 600 on 10s. Consider something more like 3600ma tops...

BTW, I've been using the Castle Creations Phoenix 85 HV on 600ESP 8S 4000ma for about 2 years now. Over 200 flights.

Before that I used it on 6S for a couple of years two.

Not sure if they still make them.

Re: Looking for a 600 size GOOD ESC

Better off considering a 4000-4200mah 8S setup really IMO. Or 65C - 6S packs and a Scorpion motor etc. Or a diff heli, lol.

Re: Looking for a 600 size GOOD ESC

I could always just use one battery at a time like I have been doing all along. Just throwing it out there. So I guess it's back to 5000mha 5 cell batteries and in that case what would be a good ESC?

Re: Looking for a 600 size GOOD ESC

It's really too much weight to carry along. Are you sure they even fit?

Re: Looking for a 600 size GOOD ESC

It sits in a Hughes 500 fuse so room is not an issue. I just want to make sure I'm on the right track before I make any changes in the fuse and framework.

Re: Looking for a 600 size GOOD ESC

On all my scalers I am running 6s 5000 and they last me 8 minutes. I have two 600s (Bell 222 and Hughes 500 MD) and two 550s (ecuriel and agusta). The ecuriel can be seen here
https://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=131846

The Hughes has not flown yet but I don't see why it would be different from the others. The fuselage weighs a lot and you probably don't want to add any more unnecessary weight if you can avoid it. Just my opinion.
