If you dont have an engine for it yet an OS 55 would be your best bet.Hope this helps.

Re: Just got a great planes revolver

A fellow here has an OS55 on his. Its fast....and flies on rails.
But the wing area is low and it lands hot. If you are flying off of grass it noses over easily. The guy at our club turned the gear so it is swept forward.
Looks a bit funny at first, but we got used to it.

Should work. She flies great. you'd better have a good LOW idle on that engine- the revolver is so streamlined that it doesnt slow down. Landings require a long straight in apprach and it usually coasts from one one of the runway to the other without slowing Would also suggest flaperon mixing- you will appreciate the flaps when landing in low headwind conditions. She just doesnt slow down otherwise

Yeah, but the forward gear moves the rotation point too far forward so as soon as it touches down, it pitches the nose up and causes it to bounce back into the air....

Re: Just got a great planes revolver

I fly mine with an OS 55 . Goes fast as i need it to go . Takes a bit getting use to landing. The landing gear is only weak part on the plane. Be ready to fix it when it rips out and it will rip out.

As a spectator, at our club, I've seen that plane which Brad and Max are speaking about fly a few times.

From my standpoint, I would not describe it as fast. It's OK but nowhere near fast, unless you are comparing it to the speed of a tortoise.

IMO, it looks ungainly with the landing gear reversed. That also makes for noticeably squirrely ground handling as well as both take off and landing runs. I asked the owner how the LG got turned around. He mentioned that when he bought the plane it had already had the landing gear reversed by the previous owner. He said that with the LG in the normal orientation, according to the previous owner, the plane kept nosing over. I don't know if the present owner used any up elevator to help prevent that. Probably not. He's a student and does not land or take off by himself yet.

From its behaviour in the air, it looks to be a nice sport flier. But it is not fast. Never will be. Not designed for speed. The airfoil is too thick. You want fast, you need a thin airfoil and a screaming engine doing much better than 20,000 rpm, with a high pitch, low diameter prop. Think pylon racer.

Re: Just got a great planes revolver

Oh Do335!!! it looks pretty good in the air and its fast enough! (besides, you dont notice the backwards gear when its ziping along at 100' and 60mph)
Its still a blast to fly, I for one really like it.
Mavrick is gonna like it too
