MOJO 40 Profile Short kit?

Gents,

I had planned to order a MOJO 40 kit from Paul Swany and found out he has stopped production of all kits.

He has also made all the plans available free issue to those who want to cut their own as long as its not for profit.

I have a guy who has a lazer cutter and can make up the short kits of the cut parts and I found a source for the glass fibre boom material.

I can offer the short kits for 91.00 Can plus shipping or 80.00 without the glass fibre boom piece. The full kits sold for 92.00 USD so not a bad deal. You will need to purchase a few sticks of 1/4" and 1/2" balsa plus make up some wire or aluminum landing gear.

I'm not making anything from this, the only benefit I get is to make it worthwhile to cut the kits I need some quantity.

So I'm looking for expressions of interest before I put something up in the for sale section.

Cheers,

PaulD

Re: MOJO 40 Profile Short kit?

I'll grab 2 for $80.00 each without the glass fibre boom piece plus shipping. Too bad you don't want to make any of the 60 sized kits he sold. I've got a few of both. I've always said the Swany House profiles should be trainer planes, they fly nice and slow with the controls turned down and still have full control at slow speeds. I have five of his profiles now and I'll buy more. Cheers Floyd

I agree with Floyd, they would make great beginner planes dialled down. I have the Burrito and my brother has the 40 and 65 size Mojos and a 40 size Primo. The Primo is a slightly better design according to my bro as he has flown them both a lot.

Personally my favourite is the Mojo 65..... Not near as wild as the 40 size.

Here's a screenshot of what's in the kit. The engine mounts are ply, the rest is the balsa pieces.

Couple sample parts test cuts.

Need to figure out a quantity to order. Looking to get to around 10 to break even.

Other than there's no self-righting tendancy thats built into a trainer wing with dihedral, I would totally agree with you. I've recommended them for a second plane to lots of people.

The other quality I love with the Mojos is they're totally "dorkable" when doing low/slow stuff and almost allways you can just dust 'em off and go again.

I'm trying to keep it simple. Not looking to go into business kitting Mojos. I have had the Primo 40 and the Mojo 60 along with a couple 40's. I think the 40 size is more popular as a "grab and go" airplane and will be easier to convert to electric.

Re: MOJO 40 Profile Short kit?

I make my own front piece for the motor mount area. I don't like the Hobby ply on a profile, its not hard enough. I've had a motor come off one of my profiles in flight. I've had others loosen the epoxy going back to where it meets the wing. I do agree that the fibre glass tubing is quite flexible if you dork it but I use carbon fiber tube. If I crash a plane I don't normally fix it. Cheers Floyd

Re: MOJO 40 Profile Short kit?

I put an add in the for sale section - gonna get this going. My kit cutter spent time on the layout so is looking to move ahead.
