Blade 450 3d bind question

hey guys, I have a question about an issue I've encountered with my AR6115e receiver. I have upgraded to the HiTec 5065s on the cyclic, the spartan DS760 gyro and also installed the TM1100 telemetry module (to monitor the battery only).

Now at times my receiver will not bind. The orange light on the receiver starts to flash (a few seconds only) but then it will go solid. The motor does not make the alarm sound. Actually, the only thing working when this happens is the gyro. I need to unplug all of the cables out of the receiver and plug them back in and then it will enter the bind mode properly. Its like it is hung up.

Once I get it to bind properly I have no issues flying for 4 or 5 batteries. I then put the heli away and go through this whole ordeal again then next day when I go to fire it up again. Could it be the ESC because of the greater draw with the upgraded servos and telemetry?

Oh yeah, looking at the telemetry graphs on my computer I see no spike drop in battery voltage. It is always a nice curve. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Blade 450 3d bind question

If the gyro doesnt get a chance to initialize...it stops right there. Their is a fix for this. In the transmitter. Its been so long..I cant remember what it is...I know I found the answer on one of Finless Bobs videos. He shows you what to do. Ill do a search and post a link if I can find it.

Re: Blade 450 3d bind question

yes, I know the video you are talking about (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=47240) but I have no control of any servos when this happens. The 'heading hold' still works when I move the heli but not the rudder servo or any other servo.

now tonight I had to re-bind (again) and everything seemed like it was working until I tried to move my rudder....no movement. The gyro was working when I would move the heli and I had control of my other servos. Then when I put I put the heli into rate mode and moved the stick... bam... I had rudder control. Put the heli into HH mode and it worked also. Very wierd.

Re: Blade 450 3d bind question

Have you had this setup with the telemetry working before you installed new servos on the ar6115e? Or is the telemetry new to this setup...if it is...remove the telemetry and see if it initializes okay.

Re: Blade 450 3d bind question

Lets see some close ups of your wiring. Where did you draw power from for the telemetry? What ESC are you using? Stock is bare minimum. It being a 450 I'm sure you are drawing everything from the flight battery. That's lots on a 2200mah 3s.

Out of curiosity. Why are you running telemetry on a 450 anyway? Orientation of the RX may be playing a part here. Also, never get your radio too close to the heli. Minimum 1 foot distance. Interference causes problems sometimes.

Just re-read your opening statement. Motor doesn't initialize but gyro works? Is your low throttle set low enough? Do you use your throttle hold when plugging in to initialize? Throttle hold should be set to -2 to -5 to ensure no throttle is being seen by the RX.

Re: Blade 450 3d bind question

Throttle curve is my guess. Maybe you went into slow startup mode due to hitting the low end of the curve. I can only suggest things without seeing it first hand?

Re: Blade 450 3d bind question

Ya..sounds like the motor just quit...but looks like you still had control of the servos.
So seems to me...your no longer having any binding issues anymore...since its flying now...so what did you do to get it air worthy?

As for the motor quitting....??? bad wire somewhere?
