I have been searching for and reading tips on setting the correct end points to calibrate the talon 90 ESC but I max out at 150% starting at 30% with no happy reply from the talon 90.

Here is my setup...

Goblin 500

Hardware:
Jr11x tx
Silverline vbar running 5.3
Talon 90 ESC ( planning on using on board BEC )
Scorpion HK4015 1070KV Motor
Stock pinion / pulley 18 tooth
Main gear 62 T
Align DS515 cyclic
Align DS655 tail
Hobby wing rpm sensor

Here is what I have done ...
Configured vbar FBL ( all except for tail and gov ) -no gov enabled yet
Talon 90 set for external gov with fixed end points
Vbar and tx calibrated and full range set for throttle -100/+100

I have added an extension cable to the Talons BEC and throttle signal wire and just popped out the red wire on that as I am using a super BEC set to 6v to power the vbar and have the throttle cable from the Talon plugged into the "coll/ESC" on vbar .

My Jr11x settings for end points is originally 150% for all channels .
So I power up the tx , vbar .. So far so good...

Then I go to my end points and turn down the throttle from 150% to 30% as suggested by castle for basic ESC end point calibration ... And leave the throttle stick all the way up.

Plug the main 6s lipo into my Talon 90 get the 6 cell acknowledgement..

Start adjusting the end points a few clicks at a time , reach 150% again with no happy top end beep from the Talon 90....

So I am stuck

What step am I missing or doing wrong... Sorry 'bout the long description just wanted to include all my steps....

Arn't you suppose to turn it on at 50% end points then go up / down ?

IF not, shy not just call them. I called them when needed help and they were awesome on the phone and quick to help.

do you mean set end points in tx to 50 % then at full throttle adjust till it registers and do the same for low throttle or zero... I tried it at 30% but not at 50%... Suppose I can try that....

As far as calling "they are not accepting calls at this time" says automated attendant ! Lol

Not sure how the vbar works but with my ar7200bx, the safety built into system will not initialize when plugging in lipo if throttle has any kind of input. I set my endpoints with a spare rx first.
I have 2 talons and both set fine when started throttle curve of 0%. Ended up around 107% high end and 96% low end point on both talons

Thanks Dan I called castle and finally got through , very friendly customer service... I was sent a file and some info where the end points are set through collective pitch low and high in the governor mode in vbar.... Followed the instructions .... Argh ! Still no progress!!!

I suppose I could try the external Rx trick and see if that works !

As far as my knowledge goes, the endpoints are only set for the purpose of the radio. It should not make a difference to your vbar if you quickly bind a spare rx to set your throttle endpoints and then reconnect the vbar.
As I mentioned, the safety in your fbl is probably not sending signal to your esc as a safety because you have your throttle set on high.
The only way I could get it to function also is not at 50% where castle recommends but 0% throttle curve straight across.

Just thought i would warn you also, the on board bec, well. it can cause issues. I WOULD STRONGLY suggest using a external bec.

I sold my talon 90, bought a Hobby Win Pro 90..

I have been reading that in many forums ... Kinda sucks but it makes more sense to have an external BEC as you want your FBL system to initialize before the ESC does.... And you are potentially applying main lipo power to a possibly failed FBL system initialization ....

I am disappointed to hear the talon's bec is causing guys issues.
The built in bec is what makes this unit attractive for the price.
I have had no problems yet but the good customer service from Castle you both mention also makes it a great product in my eyes
