I just use an old phone book. Squirt it on and mix, rip off the page when done, ready for the next time.
Mixing cups way too expensive, when you can get these for free.

A couple of things:

I constantly use a good 'ol fashioned hand reamer to get the exact size hole I need quickly. It also is a great way to cut a taper in a prop to fit a tapered prop saver. I have a couple of different sizes and they will cut almost anything.

Another favorite are magnetized parts dishes / trays. I got a bunch of sizes from Princess Auto for a few $'s a pop and they are worth their weight in gold. When working with tiny parts I work over one and so when (not if) I drop that tiny screw or c-clip it is captured for me and does not escape to the parallel universe! I also find it a great way to store the its and pieces as even if you knock it over nothing goes flying.

on leading edges? Is there something else that you use to shape leading edges from raw stock?

just ran across a how to tip from Woodsmith magazine that showed you how to build your own custom sanding blocks. The link is at:

They had you draw the end outline of your piece (leading edge stock for example) on a piece of insulation foam. Then you shaped that foam and put the sanding paper over that. They were reproducing a cove cut but in our case we would cut out the foam so the piece that would become leading edge stock would have the right shape inside.

This might not be the best way to make one but it is certainly cheaper than coming up with a router bit the right shape and routing one and would work well when only making a couple of leading edge pieces. There do not seem to be very many different sizes of leading edge stock available any more so this method would work for making your own.

I have searched for info on how to make my own leading edge stock and after seeing the Woodsmith page I wondered why I had not thought of it since it is so simple but still fills the need.

I have a small lathe, that converts to many tools; overhead milling machine, small table saw,miter sander,drum sander,and router. I don't know if they are still made today; but they are available on ebay. Check them out. UNIMAT.
