Do the ski's make much difference on how the model fly's. Seems like a very large control surface but is very close to CG so may have little effect?

And I have a electric super cub.
If your ski's are properly locked down, or spring loaded to the correct angle, you will not notice any real difference between wheels and skis.

The only problem that comes with skis is if they should come loose and pivot 90 degrees in the slipstream. This is rare and should never happen if your skis are installed correctly. If/when it does happen, it creates a ton of drag. I have seen this happen several times and in all the cases I have witnessed, the plane is still controllable but harder to fly and land safely.

And nose-overs are more common too as seen in pictures in the link on post 31 of this thread.

Re: whos skiing this year?

Hi All,

Cabin Fever Time!
No kidding for the 21st year!

Weather forecast is the greatest in years!

Over the years, we think we have flown in 'every' condition !
And learned! ! !

We have various degrees of 'landing gear' from:
-super powder floats (more flotation than water floats)
-water floats
-various skiis (the varying snow conditions make this the most challenging !)
-slush 'puppies'. (1/2in. wide, you try it !)

And this year!... Sharpened Skates !

No kidding, I call them the 'Karen Magnusens''. (Google her with Figure Skating)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karen_Magnussen

I want to do a 'Camel Flat Spin'

Do not tell the IMAC pilots, that,
It will 'technically' be a 'Flying Camel Flat Spin'...

We have a laugh! Anyone in the Apsley Ont (Google)area you are welcome to have fun with us on the north end of Lake Chandois. Feb.24, Around noon. Maac Safety Rules Apply. Nice 'beach' to fly from.

I'll try to take pictures/video,
But,
We keep having too much FUN !

Take care,
Have fun,

Re: whos skiing this year?

I didn't get chance at all to fly though the winter, I had my GP Learjet RTF with ski's on it to fly through the winter season. Have anyone else tried to fly a propjet on ski's?...
