All batteries should be used with respect.
Different battery technologies have different triggers to cause failure/damage/potential danger. This particular case the dumb-@ss was using a charger that was NOT made to charge LiPos. Go figure he spent $1000 on a kit+servo+ESC+motor+receiver+batteries+tires+++ and he didn't spend the money to buy the right tool for the job to charge his batteries. Just to highlight how much of a dumb-@ss he is, he also skipped out of the hotel without telling the manager what happened and as a result the Motel 6 (which many CRCRC racers stay at) called CRCRC to complain about one of their racers damaging their room and slithering out without letting them know. LiPo and NiMh and LiMn are all safe IF you follow the manufacturers instructions. |

They are worth using. Just pay attention to your charger settings. There are lots of people using them without any problems. That was purely caused by the user being careless.

re: lipo sack
I bought one of these to use, as our club was worried about fires.
Works great, and better yet read this from their website If your LipoSack is involved in a failure resulting in a venting of the battery and fire return it to LipoSack.com with a statement of the circumstances and receive a replacement LipoSack free of charge! Their website is http://www.liposack.com/

Don't be lazy and use auto settings. Setup your charger to charge the pack in question. I say this because for example, a charged 3 cel looks like a discharged 4 cel to the charger and you could have a fire just trying to charge a fully charged battery.
so set the cel count and amp settings manually and play it safe |
