Hi All,

Just a quick intro.

Retired old git, last flying 15 years ago.

Need to get all new stuff, any comments on the Futaba 6EX?

Re: Old Newbie

Hi GigglyHz!!

Welcome to RCC.

Is that the T6EX in 2.4G or 72Mhz?

I've had the 72 and the club uses a 2.4. Both are good entry level radios and should suit most of your fixed wing applications, but I would recommend 2.4 over 72 if you had a choice. If you are thinking of helicopters in your future, I would recommend you consider better radio that has more programmable features.

Re: Old Newbie

I'd suggest the Spektrum DX7 if you want to go the heli route at some point. That's what I started with for a radio and it has lasted me into giant scale planes, and now my first heli. They're very reasonably priced and a lot of people are starting to sell them off to get the new DX8, so there are lots of deals to be had. My DX7 has been rock solid. I haven't had any problems over the last two years that I've had it, and I fly a lot.

Re: Old Newbie

GigglyHz

If it is Futaba you like, the 7C for a bit more money is a great radio also. Leave yourself room to expand.

I have flown a 100cc plane with one and a friend fly's a heli (raptor I think) with one also. no complaints.

I am currently planning on moving up to the 10C this winter. It has a few more switches, channels, bells and whistles.

All of the 2.4Ghz systems out there appear to be great for whatever or where ever you want to fly.

My reason for Futaba was simply the frequency hopping communication also used in industrial applications. My industrial instrumentation background led me to that decision.

Re: Old Newbie

Thanks for the help guys.

Just purchased a Futaba 6EX (on offer 20$ off), the "off" bit got me an extra servo.
