Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

I have a genuine question.
On a quad, being 2 twins mated. Two pistons are going up, while two are coming down, correct?
I thought so.
Some advice on Giants that got me thinking. Possibly he meant something other that what I understood.

Where's this on Giants.

2 pistons on a power stroke I don't know about that.

We played with yamahas 4 cylinder back in they day. We would cut and reweld the crank. So 2 pistons where on they power stroke. We called them thumpers produce lots of horse power. It was like riding a 150hp vibrater Don't think a airplane frame would stand up to that

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

So on a 4 cylinder boxer all 4 cylinders are on the same (power) stroke?
Now I am getting confused.

Thank-you Jack. I was not confused until I found this statement.

"If you take the exhausts off and rotate the engine every piston should be in the same spot of rotation. If not the crank twisted under the load of that heavy prop..."

Hard to use as a gauge. If two are going up, and two are going down.

O.K, back to my AgWagon. Must get this one done for the grandkids before spring.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Three up, one lagging. Yup, trouble.
Or,
Two BDC, One TDC. One just about there. Twisted crank. Or you might be hearing a tick.

Go-Riders-Go.
