rcdave had that exact issue. Don't know if it was an isolated case or if that is just the way it is

spektrum

I had tried 2 different stock speed controllers and neither of the worked with the spektrum. Had to use my stock KO radio and receiver to use the stock rc18T speed controll.

Receiver worked fine with better speed controllers.

Problem is that the speed controller will not hold its settings. You have to reset it before u use it every time. Never tried to actually take it out on the track though. Too much of a pain trying to set it up.

Would the Spektrum Voltage Protector help things?

never saw the voltage thingy before, so couldn't tell you if it would help or not.

Sorry.

But if it does let me know, then I can go back to my spectrum.

It's only $6 so I may pick one up & try it out. For some reason I think it may work. Maybe it's just wishful thinking I'll let you know either way.

Until then I'll use my 17yr(ish) old Futaba I just dug up out of my parents basement.

Mine

My Spec. worked well with the novak Spy in my RC18. I still prefer racing the vendetta. it's a better offroad machine. I hear that offroad carpet is the RC18's specialty.

My post & answer on the AE q&a forum regarding this situation...

"Electric kit referenced: RC18T
Comments: Does the stock Esc work with a Spektrum Rx? If not, why?

Yes it does; there is no reason why it would not."

Hmmm...

I have had no problems with the stock speed controller. I have tired the specktrum in 3 different cars and no problems at all

the Spektrum Voltage Protector is meant for 4 cell cars it prevents the low voltage fail safe from kicking in

I just thought that low voltage might be the problem. I guess I will try my spektrum and see what happens. If need be I'll switch to my 17yr old Futaba system.
