Re: 126" Carden Extra 300 - BBT - Build Thread
Well, this plane is basically stock, aft of the CG so that there is enough tail weight to balance out the big DA200.
I have a hunch that we'll see Jack buy the new ultralight DA200 (with Magnesium case and machined heads that takes off nearly 2lbs!!) and when this happens, he'll be tail heavy. So in preparation, I am going to core out the bellypan. If Jack keeps the current DA200, it will just mean that the batteries are a bit further back under the turtledeck. But, every 4-6oz counts! Cheers Trev |

Re: 126" Carden Extra 300 - BBT - Build Thread
And the finished product!!!!
The lightening took out 3.8oz - not that much because of the new wood and foam from Carden, but still the equivalent of 1 1/2 servos removed! Onto the covering.... |

Re: 126" Carden Extra 300 - BBT - Build Thread
Thanks guys!!
The belly is now recovered in white! I also got a bit more BLING installed - Graphtech's new G2 gear. Graphtec used the stock Carden AL gear as a template. The curvature, width, rake, etc, etc is exact! Not quite as stiff as the AL gear, but exactly 1/2 the weight (13oz savings). |
