What size of prop would be appropriate to try with this plane and engine combination? I was thinking of trying a 10x5 that I have on hand?

You might have even better luck with an APC 11.5 x 4 or a 12.25 x 3.75. They were designed specifically for .35 control line stunt engines. They give you more consistent overall speed with more pull on the up maneuvers.

I have used a MAS 11X4 and the engine is run at a rich two cycle. The engine is good but tends to have run away.

Hey Gents, thanks for the feedback. Next time I'm at the local hobby shop I'll take a look to see what they have for prop options. Hopefully the one I have will be good enough to get me flying. I really like this kit, easy building so far. The ply ribs are kinda wonky, but I think I'll be able to straighten them out while I build the wing.

Re: Question: Any concerns with a Evo .36 for a Skyray 35?

Not had one that small, but many EVO's in the 40 class range. Originally liked their looks, but found they were a pretty decent engine with good power and fuel economy. Only negative is the extra case bracing makes them a bit on the heavy side compared to others in the same class.

And yes, the limiters were the first things to remove once out of the box. Never could reconcile why they were there other than to keep beginners from tinkering, but they were set up when manufactured half way around the globe in completely different environment guaranteed they would need quite a bit of tuning.

Never experienced any problems with the remote needles and in fact modded many other engines to fit their setup for safety. Here's an OS 40FSR with that rig added. However, there could be two likely leak points, the first the gasket at the base of the needle where it threads into the alloy bracket and the line fittings. The first may require a new gasket but the second a touch of low strength Loctite. Neither insurmountable and possible on any make.

Update, here's how it turned out. Took 2 years but it's all there now. I like the colors, got the idea from the pt-19

Came out pretty nose heavy though. I ran a 1/8" in brass tube through the tail end of the fuselage so I could use a bolt to hold weights on. Hopefully 2 loonies will get the cg to move back from the LE...

I need to tweak the landing gear a bit to, the wheel ended up a bit to far under the wing, doesn't seem like a good spot will probably dig the nose in on landings. I think I'll add some new holes to take the angle out of it, and swing it forward.

Also built a 1/2a version. In hindsite it would of been cool to scale down the 35 skyray ribs by 1/3 and do a built up wing vs a plank. Next time.
