Re: JetLegends CT-114
Hey guys, sounds like a lot of jet folks here so a good place to start, I am looking at getting into turbines. I live in Langley BC and understand that it is tough to fly the scale planes anywhere but Princeton, however I do want to get going on a project. Any advice or even equipment you have "grown" out of for sale would be a start. I have a Byron F-16 which I may throw a turbine into, and I am looking into an F-4 from sunset models in Washington which is about an 18lb plane.

Re: JetLegends CT-114
There are quite a few guys in the lower mainland that can help you get started. If you plan on flying at a club field (lando ??), then you probabaly want to start with a straight wing jet such as the Reaction ARF or the boomerang Sprint or Elan. Scale jets and grass don't mix well as a general rule (one of the reasons Princeton is so popular).
The byron F-16 is a decent ducted fan, but does not make a good turbine jet. There are about half a dozen mfrs which produce turbine F-16s around the same size, and they come out lighter, cheaper, and stronger in the long run....

Do you fly at RCFCBC? I fly my Reaction 54 off the grass there and it is a good Jet for that place. Maybe not the wizz-bang factor of an F16 but will land and take-off at that field no problem. Paul

Re: JetLegends CT-114
Thanks for the responses guys. I think I wil keep the F-16 as a ducted fan. Good plan on the jet trainer, but still need to find one and hoefully re-purpose the turbine into the F-4 I hope to build. Will look around. Pauld let me know when you plan on flying at fry's I wil come down and check it out..
Thanks Andy |

Re: JetLegends CT-114
No problemo Andy. Not a biggie at all. The Jet Forum has a ton of threads with a lot of input from a lot of jet guys. Basically we try to keep each thread on its topic, but sometimes it goes elsewhere.
You can look through and see if you can find a thread that already has whatever you're looking for,,, or you can simply start a new thread to try to get what you need. The main thing is,,, you're about to become a jet guy. And that's good.... You'll never look back
