Re: Futaba 7CAP FM Anybody?

the answer to your first question is "Yes" and to your second question, it's a plug in crystal, not a module... Gee Dave, what's with the skill testing questions?

Does the 7CAP need a module to change frequency? or does it have a plug in crystal?

Cassat, your question was misleading.

Anyway, I have two 7CAPs and they are not moduled...they have a removable crystal. So no, you can't safely change the frequency.

I've had a 7CAP for seven years or so and I change frequency all the time, no issues, connstant range checks, I added an internal 2.4 GHz transmitter.

Stick with Futaba xtals for consistent impedance.

This response is a little harsh don't you think? You guys must know each other and this is an inside joke right?

If not, I thought his answer was very informative, and for those of us that want to learn from other people's questions, the information made good sense for the rest of us.

Since you designed those circuits in your earlier days, sounds like you already knew the answer to the question that you asked, so why did you ask it?

Re: Futaba 7CAP FM Anybody?

Yes, ok thanks to all the informed answers.
And Arceenut, I apologize if I sounded rude...
I always thought the crystal was buried deep inside the module. Anyway, you are still correct in
it not being a good idea to change only the crystal. It should have been designed to change only the module.

And Skidoo, I still don't think you understood the question.

Spoken from someone who recently sold his 7C, no it is not a module. It is a crystal.

The 9c which I have is with a synthesizer module.

For ye of little faith, here's a pic of the rear of the TX from page 13 of the official manual. Clearly, there is no module.

Well, actually, once you asked the question, I did understand, and I knew the answer to the question also, but we can leave it at that.

I am not sure if Futaba TX Crystals are the same as their RX Crystals, but if they are, I have a Channel 36 Dual Conversion Rx Chrystal.

Let me know if you want it, I have no use for it.

Re: Futaba 7CAP FM Anybody?

Thanks but no thanks to the crystal.Talking about transmitters, the Tx and Rx are color coded differently.
