What are your RC plans for the New Year?

We've had threads on what everyone is building over the winter months and there are indeed some very interesting projects on the go. Everything from coro SPADS to super detailed birds of all kinds.

Thought it might be interesting to see what your plans are for the New Year/RC season. Planning on trying something completely new or sticking with the tried an proven aspect of the hobby you're involved in??

For myself, IMAC is a passion that I will continue with this coming season. Great bunch of RC'ers and fellow moddlers who sincerely help one another to accomplish the best that they can be in this part of the hobby.

I would also like to try something new this year. RC Scale WWI combat! These coro planes are fabulous and it won't cost you an arm and a leg to get into. The flying is intense and adrenalin pumping! Dollar for dollar, it has to be just about the most fun one can have with RC airplanes. I have already put my name on two planes, an SE5a and a DVII coro combats designed and produced by Johnnyg here on RCC. I picked up 2 OS .25 SF engines for them and have all the rest of the gear put aside for the builds.

Also, our friend Wayne Miller is setting up plans to do some "Fun Pylon" racing with electric Stryker aircraft which also sounds like it will be great fun!

Thats the wonderful thing about this hobby, there is always something new to discover and to try out to keep the thrills and excitement of this wonderful hobby alive.

So my friends, what are your plans for the coming New Year? Perhaps you're building your first kit plane or trying out scratch building for the first time? Maybe you plan on trying electric, or are moving up to your first gasser? You've finished your time with a trainer and am now considering your first scale or large aircraft?

Whatever your plans are, please share them with us. I always enjoy seeing what others are doing as I'm sure you do also. So lets give this a try and have fun with it!

Re: What are your RC plans for the New Year?

Hi guys and Happy New Year!
Well to start, I received a CRRC GF26I Gas Engine for my birthday in November. Now my wife has gotten me a Great Planes Super Stearman ARF 120 Bipe for Christmas. So this will be my first bipe and my first gas plane as I will be putting the two together for a great combo I hope.

More flying and building of planes, practice tons on my sim, go to different fields and funflys.
Getting into new things - Thermal/Slope Soaring, FPV, RC Skydiving, Jets, Helis (most of wich i've purchased already lately, just winter season is here right now and i haven't had the chance to try them out).

Re: What are your RC plans for the New Year?

I've got a Ken Park Shark on my bench now. Its about 50% done.

My Scat cat still needs to be finished, I've got to make an engine decision. Then my last box of wood is a Great Planes Utimate 40.

I got elected to our executive commitee, so there are lots of challenges there as well. Take care, and Happy New Year. Daren

Re: What are your RC plans for the New Year?

I have collected just about everything I need to put together an Airframe I have ordered. It is the new Aeroworks Ultimate 20-300 ( 50cc )
This is also going to be my first venture into gas as well.
Then.........
I plan to take the beast and try a couple of IMAC contest's with it.
Basic catargory of course. I am already taking a couple of big steps as is.
I don't want to have dilusions of Grandure

Re: What are your RC plans for the New Year?

I'm not going to have too much on my plate in the new season. Currently modifying my Super Cub for brushless, LiPo, and ailerons. That'll take all of an afternoon once I get my equipment.

Lots of practice with my Acro Master and sim time will be big on the agenda in hopes of flying a pattern event (with my Acro) or IMAC (with my Corsair).

I may pick up an F3P plane also (Fancy Foam Osiris by Andrew Jeskey), as I'm starting to dislike flying in the cold. That'll certainly help with my pattern flying.

The rest is saving for a giant scale IMAC plane for the season after.
