I have literally sent packages to every major city in Canada usually by parcel post and to date, I have not had even one problem with this method. Canada post seems to have really gotten its act in order in the last year or so. Even by regular post, things seem to always arrive before the expected delivery date with not so much as a scratch on anything. I do however, pack things up super well to help assure that the goods are received in good shape.

The nice lady at the post office always puts frigile stickers on my packages for me but has made comments to the effect that they are more for my piece of mind than the delivery people.

I am very sorry to hear about your mishap and can only hope that you are able to get some compensation out of this! I have never used Grey Hound for a delivery and this will make me think twice if ever tempted to do so.

Anyways, the last paragraph should have said something to the effect that the best protection is that which the shipper provides on the front end, by securely packing, padding and protecting the plane in a sturdy crate. It if is a large crate, put handles on it - it gives the handlers half a chance to carry it properly.. allow at least 2 inches room between any edge of the plane, and the inside of the crate. Cradle the plane in the center, so that it will not move around, yet is cushioned from bumps. Styrofoam is the best packing, and it is cheap. If you use peanuts, make sure the entire container is chock 100% full, before you put the lid on. It will settle like crazy and leave you without the protection you thought you had.....
