I believe one of the Jim's on RC Canada owns a scale C47 that I saw a picture of, i believe on the "other" website, and was just wondering what size it was and what it had for power. I'm just rebuilding a Kyosho DC3 to use as a twin trainer before I fly my Ziroli B25 and was looking for any tips when it comes to the DC3/C47 style plane....Thanks....Gary

Hi Gary

I'm the Jim with the DC-3.

It is built from the Royal Plans not sure of wingspan but is powered by 2 - 46 ASP engines, weighs about 12 lbs, and flies great.

Main point with this airplane, is that on takeoff let the tail get high!

It will look like it is going to nose over and it will lift off on it's own.

Don't hold the tail down or force the plane off the ground, as will snap over really quick (speaking from experience here )

Can't think of anything else, hope this helps.

Thanks Jim: every tip you can get will surely help. Was that plane at the Hobby Show a few years ago? Thought I remembered seeing it there. Those .46's must have really hauled it around. Did you have retracts in it? Thanks for the info....Gary

Yes,.. it was the one at the Hobby Show.

Didn't go for retracts (Had better things to spend about $600 on )

And the 46's do pull it pretty good only need about half power, but it's nice to have the extra. (They helped balance the plane as well )

Do have full working lights, Nav and Interior. And full Cockpit detail and opening doors.
