Can someone please tell me what is the maximum take off weight a model can have in Canada?

I'm dreaming of the Falcon but I'm not sure if it's legal.

35kg [77lbs] in Canada{ MAAC}. Anything heavier will have to be dealt with by transport Canada as it is now classified as a UAV
Cheers Dave..

which means that canucks can't fly down south with a heavier plane then. I could only find the 55 in the ama site

http://www.modelaircraft.org/PDF-files/105.pdf

I couldn't find any reference to Can weight limits in any of the documents listed in the "document" section on MAAC website.

Hi Everyone,

Weight of a model is a discussion that frequently comes up, especially when a modeller is about to begin a new giant scale project.

From the Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regultations Regulations (CARs)
Part I - General Provisions > Subpart 1 - Interpretation
"model aircraft" - means an aircraft, the total weight of which does not exceed 35 kg (77.2 pounds), that is mechanically driven or launched into flight for recreational purposes and that is not designed to carry persons or other living creatures;
http://www.tc.gc.ca/CivilAviation/Re...1/Subpart1.htm

From the MAAC insurance policy summary.
"The insured is MAAC, its charter member clubs and individual members and volunteers and they are covered against claims arising from the operation of model aircraft, model rockets, model watercraft, model trucks and automobiles, 35 kilograms or less."
http://maac.ca/docs/2006/2006_englis...mary_copy1.pdf

So the feds have defined the limit, as a MAAC member you are insured for models within that limit.

HTH,
Carl

Yeah Pete! Then you make a dummy model of Chris standing beside it with a hammer almost like he's trying to fix... That would be a real authentic scale model....
