Dual Aileron Servo Setup

I have a plane that is running a servo for the left and another servo running the right aileron. The question I have is setup in the radio. Should I run them as Flaperons or use Aileron Differential. Running a Hitec Optic 6

Re: Dual Aileron Servo Setup

I have the most experience using JR and then Futaba. In both those you run flaperon and you can then adjust differential if needed. Perhaps some info on what the plane is and what you want it to do would be helpful.

Re: Dual Aileron Servo Setup

I always set mine up with flaperon. Not sure why I've never used Aileron Differential, just never have.

Re: Dual Aileron Servo Setup

Do some reading to understand what each set up will do for you.
If my radio would only do one or the other I would opt for flaperon.
Differential can be set mechanically with the control horn locations but not flaperon which is strictly an electronic control.

Re: Dual Aileron Servo Setup

I have always used Aileron differential for this setup, particularly on simple aircraft (As opposed to 3D types) . It is straight forward, and avoids any mixups with flap settings.

Elevator to flap mixing might be fun for that.

As it's a mid-wing plane it probably doesn't need differential. (or much)

Re: Dual Aileron Servo Setup

I use the flaperon option on an eclipes 7. Just don't forget to set your flap% to 0 first so you can get full deflection in both the up and down motion and don't have to re center your linkage.
