Drone law help in ontario

Hi i was wondering if someone can help me out with laws and licensing?
So i had a run in with the police the other day about me flying my drone
around. He said someone called in saying i had cam on and they don't want there house filmed from air so that's fine but he woulde'nt tell me who called so cant not file house if i don't no who it is lol but anyway.

So i been reading laws up and from what i understand is where not aloud to fly over 90m/300 feet and drone line of site and don't need a license inless your over 35 kg or if you use drone for work or if you want to fly at night.

Is this fly at night law true i looked on transport Canada and it says under 35kg i don't need a license but have to follow safty chart will the chart says nothing about not being able to fly at night just says for safty fly in day and good weather. See i work all day and i home by 7pm and most times this time of year it's its dark and to tell you the truth i can see my quad way better at night there's less people around most the time no wind at night so i don't get this can someone full me in why we cant fly at night.

Also red a law we can't fly 150m from buildings people or cars will that's 99% of Canada then in less you live way up north in the sticks.

Re: Drone law help in ontario

Not illegal to film in a public space, whether on the ground or in the air. You can stand on the sidewalk(public space) and take pictures of houses. Sounds a bit creepy but not illegal. Sounds like you have the safety aspect down. Just don't go too high, stay within LOS and don't fly over houses, away from people. Don't go too wild flying around, nice and steady flying. That shows people you are in control. Engage people if they come up to you. You will find that most people think is very interesting but some will never like it. Have fun Jerry.

Re: Drone law help in ontario

Check your municipal laws. Here in Regina, our bylaws state that operating RC vehicles in public areas is illegal.
