Re DLE 20cc-My new DLE on starting runs for approx. 3 secs. & quits. Radio goes dead also. Turn radio switch off & then turn it on again & engine starts & runs again for 3 secs. Cycle keeps repeating. Have a fully charged 2000mah lipo battery running through a regulator. This occurs with the ignition cut-off installed or not installed. Suggestions please.

Re: A Wierd One

Depending on the radio ... what kind of radio...

the radio is quitting on you and the Rx is going to fail safe and closing the throttle causing the engine to quit would be my best guess..

check the Rx .. is it still on when the engine and radio quit.. try turning on just the radio and let it sit.. the radio may not be totally turning off , but the voltage could drop off suddenly below transmit level causing the Rx to go into fail safe as well...

Re: A Wierd One

Jeff-Using 2.4 with spectrum 9 ch rx.& spectrum DX9 tx. Rx is definitely off when engine quits. Tried running a separate batt. for rx with separate switch (rx stayed powered up) & a separate batt. running through the reg. with its own switch. Motor would not even fire.

Re: A Wierd One

Try another battery! I bought a battery from Only Batteries and they have a load limiter in them and when the load get's too high they go open circuit.

Re: A Wierd One

now by you saying the radio goes off.. are you saying that the Tx is going off as well.. ??? this is what I had assumed..

But if the Tx is not going off... and the Rx is.. then put a voltage monitor in line with your Battery.. Curiously enough.. and I had this problem with a spektrum.. but the voltage dropped to about 3.6 volts.. and my Rx just shut down.. and once the battery recoverd a bit.. the Rx came back on.. It is a thing with the spektrums.. if the voltage drops to a certain level.. they just turn off..

do some testing on the voltages like I say with an in line monitor.. you might just have a very high drain some place that drops the voltage level low enough , and long enough but then a minute later you check and it seems fine..

what batteries are you using..

Single BEC or dual.. one for ignition and one for Rx.. that is my set up in my GP Stearman... 5000 2s..

Put a monitor between the BEC and your Rx.. and get someone to help.. by watching the monitor.. It would only take a BEC to " wink out " for a couple of seconds to shut everything down.. If you are running dual BEC's then this wouldn't or shouldn't shut down the motor.. unless .. something in the wiring between the bat and bec.. not heavy enough wire for the load .. or the other thing I have seen is , the pins in the connectors.. the odd time I have plugged in an extenion and had one of the pins push back out of the plastic.. barely noticeable unless you where looking for it.. making a weak or loose connection..

vibration could be the killer here..

Re: A Wierd One

BTW... alot of these problems.. so far discussed .. are a contributing factor to the reason I am moving away from the spektrum and changing my entire fleet of 15+ models over to Taranis...
