Re: Pusher props?

Now I have never tried it but if you reverse the direction of the motor and put the prop on facing forward. This should work. You only need a pusher prop on glow or gas as they rotate one way and can't run properly in reverse

Re: Pusher props?

It has work for me 'cuz I had a gas engine (weed wacker)
conversion that turned the wrong way and add it on a Curtiss
Pusher.

Re: Pusher props?

I looked into that guys, but if you do as you say, what you end up with is the Trailing edge of the prop becomes the leading edge. I dont think that would be very effective on a twin engine aircraft as one prop would perform better than the other. There must be some Canadian deal in Canada that sells them. I checked on the sponsors link, but its only showing to dealers and not the normal 15 or so.

No read it again the prop is facing forward exactly as it would if it was at the front of the plane. you reverse the engine so that the prop rotates correctly and propels plane forward. Now if you are installing two motors you require a prop that rotates in the opposite direction . This is not a pusher prop. It has something to do with rotational forces making plane fly straight. have also heard it is normally only required on larger planes, but then I have seen some big models with 4 engines that appear to turn in same direction

Hi Trev:

I am assuming from the previous posts, you want to assemble a twin powered electric aircraft with counter-rotating props.

If this is the case, I know of no company that makes pusher electric props because like hifly mentioned with electric all we have to do is reverse the motor direction and flip a regular prop 180 degrees and it will be a pusher.
If you are building a twin this wouldn't work as one prop is pushing while the other prop is pulling.
Would be a very interesting maiden!

A possible solution is to use glow props. I plan on using the 3-bladed Windsor props for a future project as I want counter-rotating and they come in both tractor and pusher configuration. They do make a 8x6 and 9x7 which is somewhat close.

Hope this helps.
Chris

MOST glow engines only rotate one way.

Some 4 stroke glow engines run equally well in either direction.
Some just change the timing gears and others have reverse rotation cams available.

Re: Pusher props?

APC makes regular and pusher versions of their Thin Electric series props. Use a normal prop for one motor and a pusher for the other.

Thin Electric Pusher props:

Thin Electric Props:

http://www.apcprop.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=24

GWS also offers matched sets of 3 bladed 'counter-rotating' props that are specifically made for this type of application. The sizes are limited however and they do not offer 2 bladed versions.

See bottom of this page:

Re: Pusher props?

EP pushers are available. I have one on my Catalina which the former owner had set up with contra rotating motors.

EFLITE and APC are manufacturers I believe and your LHS should be able to order them for you.

Re: Pusher props?

Look on the hobbyking.com site under the prop section. Master airscrew has quite the selection.

As an example;
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idCategory=271

or on the left side search for"pusher"...
