Funny the only time I've had a run away engine is when the throttle arm came loose from the carb so this would not have helped me out. I wonder how strongly they will enforce this new rule. Seems like a tough thing to police as you will actually have to test the aircraft. I guess they will rely on people complying on their own or risk pi$$ing people off.

I can see a lot of the old timers getting prtty pi$$y about this as they will not have the means to do this without spending some money on new electronic equipment. At any rate it will be a good test.

Re: Breaking news

Q1. Why does 2.4Ghz have failsafe when it is already infallible?

Isn't that like having a door lock at a 24 hr convenience store?

Q2. How many club members programmed the failsafe for full throttle and how many for cutoff?

LOL! Randy Randy Randy, you stepped right in the middle of that one my friend!

Sort of like the old Bill Cosby routine where he says as a kid, in order to diss someone, they would say something bad about the kid's mother.

Someone had thrown a bullet into the class room stove and it went off with a loud "BANG!"

The teacher says,"Someone here must have a pretty terrible mother to throw a bullet into the stove!"

A kid in the middle of the class room jumps up and says, "I didn't do it, why you sayin bad things about my momma?"

I had a RC Car run away on me once using a Spektrum 2.4Ghz. Battery connection broke inside the transmitter. Worked all day, then suddenly lost all power to the transmitter.

This could easily happen with any car or plane.

Just another unsubstantiated rumor to try and prop up your poorly thought out proposal. Could be the reason this thread is rated so low. Starts another thread along the same subject lines so he doesn't have to answer Andrews points.

Re: Breaking news

After a couple of years on industrial controls I have this to say about failsafe:

All RC failsafes I have seen are in fact NOT failsafe
Try this simple test:
Full throttle to your engine
Cut servo wire to throttle servo
Does the engine automatically stop? immediately?

I am thinking that very few people know the definition of failsafe.
