Hi,

So again I do not knoe if this is hte right place to post this but.......air boat??

I have built a air boat with my os max 40, it was a quick build ( 2 nights ) just wanted to see if everything worked. It did. Now I am thinking of using a weed eater as a motor for my winter project, another air boat, but I have questions.......

pusher?
what size of prop to use ( 25 cc motor )
do trimmers turn fast enough?

Re: Weed Eater for Motor??

I'd go with tractor unless you want to get into looking for the proper pusher props. Although you might take the power of the clockwise shaft and then you could use the standard props in pusher mode. And yes they turn fast enough, probably get something around 6-7000 on a 16x8. Tex.

Re: Weed Eater for Motor??

Do you think a 25cc motor would be big enough. I see alot of 35cc.
Do you think a 16x8 prop would work good with a 25cc? 2 or 3 blade?

How high is up???? You haven't told us anything about the project, so it's impossible to answer your questions. Tex.

Re: Weed Eater for Motor??

I have not yet started on the boat.

I am trying to decide what motor to use and then build the boat to fit.

- 34cc chainsaw motor
- .40 glow nitro motor
- 25cc gas trimmer motor

Re: Weed Eater for Motor??

I'm guessing your boat will need to be minimum 4 feet long & 24 inches wide. A little bigger would be safer, if you build it out of foam you can always cut it down later if you want.

Weadeater engines are a gamble, some work out & some don't. Usual problem is lack of RPM but on an airboat - it will still move through the water.
