Re: 3GX and OrangeRx R100 Satellite Receiver

There has been a lot of discussion about the orange RX and the satellite here:

https://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=109435

I personally have yet to try the remote. I have a couple but I havent had the need to use one, I have been using the orange RX alone with great results.

Some have argued that they get less range with the remote attached. Don't ask me why, but I cant prove or disprove that claim.

I am not sure about whether you can use it with a genuine spektrum RX, but somewhere in my mind I do recall that the answer was "no" - but again, I am only going from memory.

Hope this helps,
Max

The Orange sattelite works fine with the 3GX unit.

Raysun - are you currently using this with your 3GX and are you using 2 satellites or just 1 and which Heli are you using this?

Re: 3GX and OrangeRx R100 Satellite Receiver

I am just in the process of setting 3GX up on a 500, and am using one Orange sattelite for setup. I will likely fly it with two sattelites, an Orange and a Spektrum. I have found these to be completely interchangable with spektrum units, can mix and match.

I could use some setup tips, for example I find checking the swash direction very hard to do as its movement is very small. I might use a swash leveling tool to be sure. I have flashed to v1.2, and am using the default 500/normal settings, condition set to 80%. Have not flown it yet though.

Re: 3GX and OrangeRx R100 Satellite Receiver

To Raysun - This would be my first time as well, and will be ordering the orange satellite from HK never setup any flybarless at all. So if you could keep me posted once you have it up and running would be awesome.

Re: 3GX and OrangeRx R100 Satellite Receiver

I use a few Orange RX with satellite. I have no issue, but I have never been able to tell if the satellite adds any range or even can provide proper failover. I wouldn't know how to tell, but I feel safer just having it plugged in.
