Recommend me an inexpensive RTR off-road truck
I have a nitro truck, a Savage X SS. My first RC road vehicle. It's great but noisy and messy. Good for serious RC adventures but not quick hops around the street. I'd like to get an electric off road that I can just grab and boot around the neighbourhood park.
Looking for something under 1/10 but no smaller than 1/16 scale. Looking to spend $300 max for an RTR. Would prefer 4WD but 2WD is okay for what I want to use it for. Brushed motor is fine. Doesn't matter what type, just not a rock crawler. I've looked at a couple of HPI's offerings. Namely the Savage XS Flux, though it's apparently a really aggressive little truck. Not sure what else is out there. Any recommendations?

Re: Recommend me an inexpensive RTR off-road truck
I've seen bad reviews on the Savage Flux. I like my Traxxas Summit VXL 1/16. It's 4WD, 2.4 Ghz and brushless. It's a hybrid Monster truck/crawler that can do 40 Mph. Also the Traxxas E-revo 1/16th is another crowd-favourite.

i dont know how cheap you want but for 129.00 you can get the electrix Rukus it is a not bad truck for the money, i bought 1 for my son a he has had a blast with it , ramps it , has bumped into things and still no damage, comes with a little 1800 mah 6 cell ni-mh battery, i could get a 5000 mah and he would say that it dont last long though, lol , just my 2 cents worth

I went with the 1/16 E-Revo. Nice truck. I've only driven it around my yard but it goes through grass like crazy. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Re: Recommend me an inexpensive RTR off-road truck
I'm enjoying the MIRV so far. Found a great spot at the Milton Fair Grounds. A blocked in arena where they do tractor demos in the fall. Nice deep ruts to bash around in. I'm going to buy the long travel rockers to raise it up for that sort of mudding. Just a quick swap to lower it for grass and even ground. The suspension is sloppy so it definitely does need the stiffer springs. Probably put the purple ones in there. I'll eventually convert everything to metal parts as well.
