JimMc,

Jeez I wondered wy you liked bipes so much... now I know! Couldn' agree with you more about Bach! And of course he is the author of Johnathan Livingston Seagull! "Nothing by Chance" is another good book of his. Oh and "Dreams" as well.

aviation related books

My library is full of great books related to aviation. One of my favourites is "piece of cake".Set in England leading up to and through the Battle of Brittian. Great book, made into a mini series whick was extremely well done. You'll only find it in used book stores.

Gimley Glider

Yes Ron thats the story of the Gimley Glider. The pilot landed a 767 by sideslipping it to loose altitude to make the runway. Several experienced pilots tried what he did on a simulator and failed to do it! The pilot thought they had put gallons of fuel into the tanks and it was litres so they ran out of fuel and 43,000 feet over Alberta and glided to a safe landing.

You'll have to read the book. The story is increadable how everything went wrong up to the point the engines quit and how everything went right to get them on the ground safely saving the lives of 200 and some odd number of passengers.

Like to collect very old aviation books. the oldest one is copywrite 1912. One I"m reading now is 1915, called Aircraft In The Great War by Claude Graham-White. Everything was fresh in their minds when they were written. Also like biographys by Billy Barker, Bishop, Buzz Burling.

I got bunches of books....some favourites are:

The Big Show by Pierre Clostermann

Thunderbolt by Robert Jonson

The Ragged Rugged Warriors by Martin Caiden Gritty story of the early days of WWii when things were not going so well..

Spitfire - the Canadians by Robert Bracken

There are many, many more, but those are a good read and take you back to a different time.....
