New engine, Graupner G Booster 80+
So my G Booster 80+ arrived today, initial impressions are very good!
The engine is tiny! Specifications are as follows: Max thrust 85N (19.1lbs), Mine was hand picked and is pushing 20.3lbs Diameter: 3.6" Length including starter: 9" Weight: 2.1lbs RPM: 45,000 - 165,000 Exhaust gas velocity: 1650kph (1025mph) Fuel consumption at max rpm: 8oz/min The ECU is the smallest I've seen of all the engines I've owned. Pump is a Graupner pump, EDT is orbit/jettronics. The engine is very clean, the Kero Start, and EGT probe are all internal, nothing hanging out the side of the engine. It looks pretty neat with it's black case and red cowl, not that color is important. There is no inner cone on the engine which is something I'm not used to seeing. Everything looks extremely well made, once the weather smartens up I'll run it! Pic's later! |

Sweet! i looked at one down in Toledo this year, gorgeous engine. Where did you buy yours and if you don't mind me asking;how much was it? I believe they were going for $3400 usd at the time.
Enjoy it! Mike |

Re: New engine, Graupner G Booster 80+
Hi Mike,
I got mine through a friend of mine in Germany who has a Skygate Viperjet that he wanted painted. I told him I'd paint the jet, and he bought me the engine. From what I understand, any hobby store that carries Graupner products should be able to get the engines. They are $3499US, (about 2400 euro) which makes them a pricey engine, but if they perform the way I'm told they do, it might just be worth it! For a smaller weight and size conscious application though, they are smaller and lighter than a P70 with more thrust and MUCH smaller than a P80 with close to the same thrust. That's just the price as shown online, tomorrow I will ask how much they are for certain. Last edited by Guest; 12-19-2008 at 12:44 PM. |

Re: New engine, Graupner G Booster 80+
Hey Wayne,
It's a little shorter than the 600R, about the same diameter. The ECU is about half the size of the PST ECU though. There is no glow plug sticking out though and no EGT probe on the outside of the engine. 2 fuel lines (fuel and kero start) and 2 cables to the ECU. The engine itself is a little lighter and the components are a bit lighter as well. It also comes with a Lithium battery. I would guess that compared to a 600R, in the end, it will be about 1/2lb lighter with all the components, maybe a little more but with nearly 6lbs more thrust. |
