Wow...........didnt mean to jump on anyones face.........and of course any one of us are going to take advantage of the dollar improvement especially after paying the whopping premiums of the last few years,me included.[
I happen to live in a border town of 80000 souls which has lost in the vicinity of 10000 high paying steel and paper jobs and had them only partially replaced with call center minimum wage jobs and this affects everything from real estate to taxes locally.......Did anyone ever expect to see Stelco reduced to a penny stock on the edge of bancruptcy protection and unable to fund their pension plans?

I am taking my chances, and not buying any US $$ untill Toledo. I bet it will be even better than now (stronger Can $$).

I think I will be bringing a new Jett 50 home with me this year...

I remember reading about when the $Cdn was devalued to 0.93 -wasn't it called the Deifendollar. Of course it still has to pass the Treaudough to reach that high

In 1976 the Canadian dollar was 10 cents higher than the American dollar.

Well lower Canadain $ will be GREAT (I'm retired) so the pension cheque just gets bigger

Hoping it stays there after April too... for Toledo, and I'm going to Top Gun again this year. (not flying) {yet} just watching.

But as Kevin said if the $ stays high it will really be HARD on the manufacturing section of Canada.

There seems to be no way to get ahead of the curve on hobby material pricing.Way back in the early 70's when the dollar was higher I had a hobby shop. The buck was in great shape ,but there was duty on everything and the federal sales tax (pre GST) was variable and went as high as 13%,so we still ended up higher retail price in the store.retail price was set by mfg and store got a % discount. Some of us got listed as distributors and got better discountd to be more competitive.Problem with that was the quantity that you had to buy.
