Hi, has anyone taken large LiPo packs in baggage in a plane? Is it legal and safe?

Thanks.

Re: Taking Lipo batteries in a plane

I flew with my 450 and batteries from Toronto to Winnipeg and they were more interested in the tiny screw drivers. Maybe they thought I would dismantle the jet mid flight. I think anything more than 4 inches was considered a threat. The batteries were not even considered but I will bet they ask questions about them once they see them in the scanner.

Re: Taking Lipo batteries in a plane

I fly to the UK often with my heli in a travel case +TX +4 3S2200 packs +2 chargers +2power supply's (Believe it or not, all that fits in one case)
Its not a problem if you bring them Carry on. I also use a LipoSafe bag. They sometimes want to look at the battery after the X-ray scan, but once they confirm it is a battery its not a problem.

Also, if you are bringing a TX, take it out of the carry case and put it in a separate tray like you would a laptop. It goes through X-ray and security easier and faster that way.

Re: Taking Lipo batteries in a plane

craneman32, Max thank you for the information!
I'll also use LipoSafe bag but I suppose it will still be better to discharge the packs to 3.3 V, no?
